Contractor wanted for QUA-SAR project

21. December 2023

We are looking for contractors for our project QUA-SAR to develop quantum optimisation for resource management and interference suppression and to develop quantum machine learning for automatic target recognition and tracking.

Our project QUA-SAR (“Quantum computing for processing and optimisation tasks in radar remote sensing”) is an application-oriented study: The aim of this research project is the development of innovative processing concepts and quantum algorithms for radar applications in general and synthetic aperture radar systems for earth observation in particular. Participation is possible via TED 775263-2023. The submission deadline is 31 January 2024 at 2 pm.

Industrial integration

  • The first main work package (HAP 1) deals with quantum optimisation for resource management and interference suppression.
  • The second main work package (HAP 2) deals with quantum machine learning for automatic target recognition and tracking.

This study is being led by the Microwaves and Radar Institute, with its world-leading expertise in space-based radar remote sensing. Among other things, the institute is researching new ways of processing complex radar data and optimising radar systems. Quantum computing offers a range of promising potential for this, from sensor design to data analysis, and will make it possible in the foreseeable future to solve certain computationally intensive tasks with exponentially shorter runtimes compared to conventional computers, or even make it possible to solve certain problems in the first place.
