Our materials research project QuantiCoM and the awarded industrial partner IQM Germany started work on the QuantiCoM | SimKoSys project at the beginning of October 2024 with a project kick-off.
The QuantiCoM team, led by the DLR Institute of Materials Research, presented the SimKoSys sub-project in detail and related it to other QuantiCoM sub-projects, which are also in a materials science context and deal with the challenges of atomistic material simulations. IQM Germany explained its concrete concept proposal for implementation and, together with the QuantiCoM project team, translated it into a concrete project roadmap that harmonises work packages and deliverables. Scientific discussions on the advantages and disadvantages of various embedding techniques emphasised the high scientific level of all parties. Cross-connections to other DLR QCI projects were also analysed to ensure the best possible synergy development.
We are looking forward to a promising collaboration with our project partner and new findings that will lead to a better understanding of strongly correlated material systems.
QuantiCoM: Quantum Computing for Materials Science and Engineering
We are researching tools for rapid material discovery and development, the transfer of applications to industrial partners and the identification of simulation approaches that promise a quantum advantage.
