The working group of Arbeitsgruppe von Prof. Birger Horstmann from the DLR Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics held its annual meeting of the BASIQ project with its industrial partners on 3 December 2024: HQS Quantum Simulations, Kipu Quantum and the cooperation of D-fine and Planqc. This meeting at the Innovation Centre Ulm brought the various parties together and promoted scientific exchange. This will drive the project forward and foster an ecosystem that benefits everyone.
The Karlsruhe-based start-up HQS Quantum Simulations presented advances in its algorithm for material simulation at the atomistic level. Kipu Quantum gave an introduction to the possibilities of analogue quantum simulations using contraadiabatic algorithms. The consulting company D-fine and the quantum computer manufacturer Planqc provided insights into the scaling advantages of quantum algorithms for the numerical solution of differential equations. Such a meeting takes place once a year for each project in one of the innovation centres in attendance.
