Innovation Center Ulm
A uniquely diverse ecosystem for quantum computing
There are many ways to implement qubits technically – and it is not yet clear which, or rather which, approaches will prevail. At our Ulm Innovation Centre, we are therefore focusing on technological diversity in the development of hardware and enabling technologies and a rich ecosystem for application development.
Nevertheless, we have one focus: spin-based systems, around which we have created an ecosystem of manufacturers, suppliers and users. At the Ulm Innovation Centre, we not only develop quantum computers based on NV centres, but also produce the necessary qubit diamonds, processes for the surface treatment of these diamonds and the necessary characterisation systems – and right next door at the DLR Institutes of Quantum Technologies and AI Security and at the nearby DLR site in Oberpfaffenhofen, application teams are preparing for these systems.
