QuiX Quantum supplies core components for CARINA

QuiX Quantum has handed over key hardware components of the CARINA quantum computer to us. Over the coming months, we will carry out system integration, commissioning, calibration, as well as measurements and validation. As soon as we have tested and accepted the system, we will make it available to the ecosystem via our QCI Connect compute service.

Carina is based on measurement-based photonic quantum computing. In this approach, computations are carried out by measuring entangled photonic states. The measurement results are processed in real time and control the subsequent computational steps. The system is designed to implement a universal set of quantum gates. The technologies employed include integrated photon sources, fast electro-optical switches, the generation of photonic cluster states, and mechanisms for rapid feedback of measurement results. With this delivery, QuiX marks an important milestone, enabling photonic quantum computing to progress from the development of individual components to the integration and validation of a complete system under real-world operating conditions.

QuiX Quantum is integrating Carina at the Ulm Innovation Centre, where the system will later be operated and made available following acceptance.
